Eyeshadows are a long time temptation for me and MAC’s Mineralize Eye Shadow Duos have always been favorites.

My latest acquisition is the Sweet & Sour Mineralize Eye Shadow Duo, a combination of warm gold baked together with a color swirl of dirty gold, green and deep blue veining.

These powders go on super sheer with a pearly sheen to them and a hefty dose of shimmer. The sheer aspect allows me to dust on the pigment for a subtle effect or pat on progressively more for greater intensity. The color swirl of dirty gold, green and deep blue veining comes out a soft green even when applied dry. See?

For today’s experiment, I used MAC Painterly Paint Pot as a base over my entire eyelid. I applied the green side of the shadow duo to the outside of the eyelid and the warm gold on the inside, using a blending brush to soften the transition between the two colors. For contour, I applied MAC Constructivist Paint Pot in the crease and at the corner of the eye, again blending for a subtle effect. I applied a light dusting of the warm gold above the crease and just under the eyebrow for highlight. MAC Smolder Eye Kohl and Haute & Naughty Lash finished off the look.

I tend to blend, a lot. I like the shades to be subtle and I can always pat on more pigment to help a particular color pop. I also go very easy on the eyeliner.

I was very happy with the combination of warm gold to green. This could be something I’d wear through the day and then reapply a bit more green and heavier eye liner for a more intense look in the evening. There’s a lot of fall out from the Mineralize Eye Shadow Duo though, even applied on a base. Be prepared to dust away shimmer under your eyes or at the top of your cheeks throughout the day.

Overall, I love this duo. The colors worked out really nice on my skin tone and with my eye color.
